I nearly laughed my ass off at the scene in Knocked Up where the guy suggests, "we could do it doggie style," and she says, "no - I do not want you to fuck me like a dog." He counters with, "it's not like a dog, it's doggie style - we don't even have to go outside or anything." Sorry, but even a little prude like the character in that movie should have known about the doggie style position and all it has to offer. Next to the missionary position, doggie style - or "from behind" if you prefer - is the most common position used by couples today in America.
One of the best things about "doggie style" is that it is so versatile. It can be used for vaginal and anal penetration - you can do it standing up, or on a bed - you don't even have to be fully undressed or indoors... Yes, doggie style can be done outside and it's still not getting "fucked like a dog" - it's just a position, get over it.

The CowboyThe woman is in the traditional doggie position, but the man straddles her body placing his feet on either side of her torso with his knees bent during penetration. SpoonsWe've all heard about spooning, but many don't realize that this is just another variation on doggie style.
